The Maghery Community Centre was opened in 2006 after many years of effort and fundraising by the community. The centre is a hub for the local community and many local groups utilise its facilities.
The Maghery Senior Social Club is funded by the HSE and provides a meeting place for senior citizens. There are numerous activities such as bingo, arts and crafts, card playing and live music. Tea, snacks and a healthy dinner are provided. The Social Club is held on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The main hall is a multifunctional space where many activities can be held. The hall can be rented on an hourly basis, half day and full day basis.
The community centre has a forty-seat audio visual room. The room is perfect for watching movies, talks/lectures, and meetings. The room can be hired for private functions and children’s birthday parties.
A community chippy is open every Friday evening throughout the year. The chippy sources the majority of its ingredients from local suppliers.
The community centre is equipped with a full catering kitchen and can cater for small and large gatherings such as funeral lunches, private functions etc.
The community centre is perfect for holding children’s birthday parties. There are a number of packages available and includes hall rental and a bouncy castle for two hours. Hot food is available as an add on.
There is a well-equipped children’s playground adjacent to the community centre. It includes a wheelchair accessible swing.
An outdoor adult gym is located at the back of the community centre. It is free to use.
The community centre has an excellent sports field and changing facilities with showers. When not in use by the local soccer team it is available to rent.
The community centre has an all-terrain Beach Wheelchair. This can be booked and it is free of charge.
